An Ola cab driver in Mumbai has won praise online after travelling nearly 18 km to return an iPhone 16 that a passenger had accidentally left in his vehicle. Meer Shaikh found the phone inside his cab after completing a ride and, despite initially having no way to contact its owner, decided to keep it safe until the passenger got in touch. The incident later led to an appreciative gesture from the phone's owner.

Shaikh discovered the iPhone after the passenger had left the cab. Since there were no incoming calls on the device and he could not immediately contact the customer through Ola, the driver waited for the owner to reach out. His patience eventually paid off when the passenger called him and explained that he was in Malabar Hill, while Shaikh was in the Bandra Kurla Complex area.

The driver then travelled from BKC to Malabar Hill, covering approximately 18 km across Mumbai to return the expensive device. Shaikh documented the journey and the eventual handover in a video shared on Instagram. After reaching Malabar Hill, he met the passenger and handed over the iPhone, ensuring that it was returned directly to its rightful owner.

During the exchange, the passenger thanked Shaikh for making the journey to return the phone. The driver later said in the video that after giving the phone back, the customer rewarded him with Rs 2,500 as a gesture of appreciation. The exchange highlighted the passenger's gratitude for the driver's effort and honesty in returning the valuable device.

The incident has since attracted attention on social media, with users praising Shaikh for going beyond what was required to help a passenger recover a valuable possession. Many appreciated his decision to personally travel across the city instead of simply waiting for the customer to collect the phone from him.
