BJP chief and Leader of the House JP Nadda sharply rebuked opposition MPs in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday for their protests over alleged Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) deployment in the House, calling it “anarchism” and offering to give them “tuition classes” on parliamentary conduct. “I was in opposition for over 40 years. They’ve been there for only 10 years and need to learn,” Nadda declared, as the House adjourned until 2 pm amid the uproar following Zero Hour.
The controversy erupted after Congress leader and Leader of the Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge claimed in a letter, shared with the media, that CISF personnel were deployed to curb opposition protests, calling it “undemocratic.” Deputy Chairman Harivansh and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju refuted the claim, insisting only parliamentary security personnel were involved. Rijiju accused Kharge of misleading the House, while Harivansh expressed displeasure over the letter’s public disclosure.
Kharge defended the opposition’s “democratic right to protest,” citing past BJP leaders like Arun Jaitley and Sushma Swaraj, but Nadda countered, “Your democracy ends where my nose starts. This is anarchy!” The ongoing clash, rooted in last week’s protests, underscores escalating tensions as the opposition demands clarity on security arrangements while the government dismisses their claims as baseless.
