Both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha were adjourned for the day amid intense protests by Opposition MPs demanding the withdrawal of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar.
In the Rajya Sabha, the session resumed at 2 PM with discussions on the Carriage of Goods by Sea Bill 2025, but Opposition MPs disrupted proceedings, raising slogans like “Take back SIR.” AIADMK MP M Thambidurai and YSRCP’s Ayodhya Rami Reddy attempted to speak, but protests escalated as MPs approached the member’s seat, prompting Chair Bhubaneswar Kalita to adjourn the House.
The Lok Sabha faced similar disruptions, with proceedings halted within minutes of reconvening. The Opposition’s agitation, consistent with the session’s first three days, also called for discussions on a Pahalgam terrorist attack and Operation Sindoor. The ongoing protests underscore deep political divides over electoral and security issues in Bihar and beyond.
