Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday stated that the central government is actively working to minimise the effects of global conflicts on Indian citizens, while accusing the opposition Congress Party of creating unnecessary panic in the country. Modi made these remarks while addressing a public gathering in Silchar, highlighting the government’s efforts to safeguard citizens amid international uncertainties.
During his address, Modi criticised Congress for allegedly ignoring the Northeast region during India’s independence, particularly pointing to the drawing of borders that cut off the Barak Valley’s access to the sea. He suggested that this historical oversight had long-term implications for the region’s connectivity and development.
"As the world is facing wars, our effort is to minimise their impact on the people of the country. The Congress should have performed the role of a responsible political party, but it failed to do so. It is trying to create panic among the people," Modi said, urging citizens to rely on the government’s initiatives rather than unverified political narratives.
