Union Minister for Electronics and IT, Ashwini Vaishnaw, heralded Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a game-changer poised to revolutionize society and industries, urging swift adaptation across sectors.
Speaking at the CII Annual Business Summit 2025, Vaishnaw likened AI’s transformative potential to that of the internet, emphasizing its permanence. “AI is here to stay, bringing humongous changes. Every industry must prepare,” he said, highlighting its impact on agriculture, healthcare, and education.
Vaishnaw underscored India’s proactive AI strategy, including the India AI Mission, which aims to democratize AI through a public platform offering computing power and datasets for startups and researchers. He cited ongoing efforts, such as IIT Jodhpur’s work on deepfake detection, set to be open-sourced, and Sarvam AI’s development of India’s first homegrown AI model.

Vaishnaw also highlighted India’s semiconductor push, with the first made-in-India chip (28-90 nm) expected this year, bolstering AI infrastructure. As India aims to lead in responsible AI, Vaishnaw’s call to action resonates: industries must embrace AI’s potential while navigating its challenges to stay competitive in a rapidly evolving global landscape.
