Malayalam film actor and celebrated mimicry artist Kalabhavan Navas was found dead in a Chottanikkara hotel on Friday evening, leaving the entertainment industry and fans in mourning. The 51-year-old, known for his vibrant performances, was discovered unresponsive by hotel staff during a film shoot. Authorities were promptly alerted, and Navas was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.
Preliminary investigations point to a cardiac arrest as the likely cause of death, though a post-mortem is underway to confirm. Police have ruled out foul play, noting Navas had no known health complaints prior to the incident. The actor was staying at the hotel for a new film project, details of which remain undisclosed.
Navas, a versatile entertainer, rose to fame through his mimicry skills, captivating audiences with spot-on impressions of prominent figures. His career spanned over two decades, with notable roles in Malayalam films like Thenkasipattanam and Pandippada, where his comedic timing and charm shone. Beyond acting, he was a gifted playback singer, contributing to several film soundtracks.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan expressed his grief, stating, “Navas’ contributions to Malayalam cinema and mimicry enriched our cultural landscape. His loss is deeply felt.” Tributes poured in from colleagues and fans, with actor Mammootty calling him “a rare talent whose laughter will echo forever.”
The actor is survived by his wife and two children. Funeral arrangements are yet to be announced as the industry reels from this sudden tragedy.
