Kerala State Road Transport Corporation secured a significant morale and publicity boost when Transport Minister K B Ganesh Kumar revealed that legendary actor and Dadasaheb Phalke award recipient Mohanlal has graciously agreed to serve as the corporation's goodwill ambassador, committing his star power to the ongoing revival initiatives entirely without seeking any financial remuneration.
Mohanlal's involvement will center on featuring prominently in a series of professionally produced advertisements and comprehensive promotional campaigns directed by acclaimed filmmakers, strategically designed to rejuvenate KSRTC's tarnished public perception and attract greater patronage amid longstanding financial and operational challenges.
The announcement coincided with revelations of impressive operational milestones, as KSRTC registered an all-time high daily ticket revenue of Rs 12.18 crore on January 5 through the deployment of 4,952 buses that ferried approximately 27 lakh passengers, eclipsing the prior record of Rs 11.53 crore achieved on December 15, with overall collections including ancillary sources surpassing Rs 13 crore for that day.

Minister Ganesh Kumar emphasized that the revenue upswing reflects systemic improvements beyond seasonal factors, noting a Rs 2 crore increase during the ongoing Sabarimala pilgrimage compared to the previous year, while firmly asserting that the era of disruptive trade union influence over corporation affairs has conclusively ended.
Looking ahead, KSRTC outlined ambitious enhancements including the imminent rollout of a premium business-class intercity service featuring luxury Volvo coaches, initially commencing with two vehicles on the high-demand Thiruvananthapuram-Ernakulam corridor with strategic halts at Kollam and Alappuzha bypasses to cater to upscale travelers seeking superior comfort and reliability.
