Kerala General Education Minister V Sivankutty has intensified political pressure by publicly demanding that senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi be formally questioned by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) handling the high-profile Sabarimala gold theft case, asserting that ongoing investigative leads are steadily pointing toward potential connections involving the former Congress president.
Sivankutty characterized the alleged ties between the main accused, Unnikrishnan Potti, and the uppermost echelons of the Congress leadership as profoundly shocking and a matter of utmost gravity, stressing that the full extent of any underlying conspiracy must be thoroughly exposed through direct interrogation of Gandhi to ensure transparency and accountability.
The CPM minister pointedly questioned the security protocols surrounding Sonia Gandhi's official residence in Delhi, a highly protected zone, demanding clear explanations from Congress leaders about how Potti managed to gain entry, the purpose of his visit, and whether any party figures facilitated or endorsed his access.

Sivankutty further accused the Opposition Congress of deliberately attempting to undermine and sabotage the SIT probe by fabricating baseless allegations against the Chief Minister’s Office, suggesting these tactics are designed to divert attention from and conceal their own purported links to the prime accused in the scandal.
The controversy gained further momentum after Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan himself raised probing questions directed at the Congress high command following the emergence of photographs depicting Unnikrishnan Potti in the company of Sonia Gandhi and UDF convener Adoor Prakash, fueling widespread speculation and escalating the political confrontation in the state.
