A major landslide struck Ajamabad in Poonch district’s Loran Valley early Wednesday morning, severely damaging two mud houses—but miraculously, no injuries were reported.
According to officials, the houses belonged to Mohammad Lateef and his brother, whose families had evacuated the area two days ago after noticing signs of potential land movement. They also moved their cattle to safety, avoiding what could have been a fatal disaster.
The landslide, which occurred around 5 a.m., brought down an entire hillock, sending heavy boulders crashing into the structures. “Slides are still ongoing, and more houses in the vicinity are at risk,” a relative of the family told PTI.
