Newly appointed Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Kavinder Gupta, paid a courtesy visit to President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Wednesday, the President’s Office announced. The office shared a photograph of the meeting on X, stating, “Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Shri Kavinder Gupta called on President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan.”
During the meeting, President Murmu presented Gupta with a copy of the Constitution of India, symbolizing democratic responsibility. She expressed confidence in his leadership for Ladakh’s inclusive growth, given his extensive political experience as a senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir. Gupta assured his commitment to serving Ladakh’s people and upholding constitutional values.
Gupta, who assumed office on July 18 after taking the oath administered by Chief Justice Arun Palli, succeeded Brig (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd). His appointment follows President Murmu’s acceptance of Mishra’s resignation on July 14. Gupta has pledged to work unitedly for Ladakh’s development, aiming to elevate it as a global tourism destination.
