Today, the sacred doors of Kedarnath Temple swung open, marking the start of the revered Char Dham Yatra.
Thousands of devotees gathered amidst Vedic chants and grand ceremonies to witness the auspicious moment, kicking off a six-month spiritual pilgrimage to Uttarakhand’s Himalayan shrines.
The temple, adorned with an unprecedented 108 quintals of vibrant flowers by the Pushp Samiti from Rishikesh and Gujarat, radiated divine beauty. The colorful blooms and their fragrance mesmerized pilgrims, enhancing the spiritual aura of the majestic shrine.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, present at the opening, reaffirmed the state’s commitment to a seamless Yatra. “I reviewed arrangements in Rishikesh, the Yatra’s first halt, and directed officials to ensure smooth travel and communication for devotees,” he said. Reflecting on the occasion, he added, “The opening of Baba Kedarnath’s doors is a moment of immense devotion. The Yatra began on April 30 with Gangotri’s shrine, and Badrinath’s doors will open in two days.”
Dhami praised local contributors, particularly Himanshu Chamoli’s team, for their efforts in managing logistics and transportation. He also highlighted the vital role of traders along the pilgrimage routes, noting their contribution to the region’s economy.
As the Char Dham Yatra unfolds, the breathtakingly adorned Kedarnath Temple stands as a beacon of faith, welcoming devotees to embark on their sacred journey with renewed devotion and awe.
