Union Textiles Minister Giriraj Singh launched the ‘Kapas Kisan’ mobile application, developed by the Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) in New Delhi, to enhance the efficiency of cotton procurement under the Minimum Support Price (MSP) scheme.
The app introduces a farmer-centric digital platform, enabling self-registration, slot booking, and payment tracking, thereby reducing manual paperwork and ensuring timely, transparent, and fair MSP operations. Singh emphasized that the app safeguards cotton farmers from distress sales, aligning with the government’s Digital India vision.
The ‘Kapas Kisan’ app offers key features designed to empower farmers, including secure self-registration for MSP sales, digital scheduling to minimize waiting times and crowding at procurement centers, and real-time updates on quality assessments, accepted quantities, and payment processing.
With a user-friendly interface supporting multiple Indian languages, the app enhances accessibility and convenience, allowing farmers to choose suitable time slots and plan effectively, thus streamlining the procurement process.
The launch marks a significant step in modernizing agricultural trade practices, reinforcing the government’s commitment to farmer welfare. By digitizing critical aspects of cotton procurement, the app not only boosts transparency but also reduces operational inefficiencies, ensuring farmers receive fair compensation promptly.
The initiative is poised to transform the cotton sector, fostering trust and supporting India’s broader agricultural and digital transformation goals.
