BJP national president and Union Health Minister J P Nadda, along with Union Minister Jitendra Singh, offered prayers at the revered Mata Vaishno Devi shrine atop the Trikuta hills in Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi district today. Accompanied by his wife Mallika Nadda, BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh, and Jammu and Kashmir BJP president Sat Sharma, Nadda’s visit blended spiritual reverence with political purpose, officials said.
Nadda arrived in Katra, the base camp for pilgrims, to conclude a two-day training workshop organized by the BJP for its 28 legislators, most of whom are first-time lawmakers. The ‘Vidhayak Prashikshan Shivir,’ inaugurated on Friday by BJP national general secretary B L Santosh and Sat Sharma at a Katra hotel, aimed to equip the legislators for the upcoming budget session of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly, set to begin on March 3. The workshop focused on enhancing their effectiveness in legislative proceedings, a critical task as the party seeks to strengthen its foothold in the union territory.
The visit to the shrine, a significant pilgrimage site drawing millions annually, underscored Nadda’s engagement with the region’s cultural and spiritual ethos. His presence, alongside senior party leaders, signaled the BJP’s commitment to its legislative agenda ahead of a pivotal session.
