Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha ordered the dismissal of two government employees, Siyad Ahmad Khan and Khurshid Ahmad Rather, on Friday for their alleged involvement with the banned terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). The action, executed under Article 311(2)(c) of the Indian Constitution, allows termination without inquiry when national security is at stake, reflecting the administration’s ongoing crackdown on terror networks.
Khan, an Assistant Stockman in the Sheep Husbandry Department from Keran, Kupwara, was arrested in January 2024 for transporting arms for LeT. Rather, a school teacher from Karnah, Kupwara, appointed in 2003, was detained for acting as an Over Ground Worker (OGW), smuggling arms, ammunition, and narcotics across the Line of Control. Both are currently lodged in District Jail Kupwara, with incriminating evidence, including AK rifles and pistols, recovered during investigations.
This marks the latest in a series of dismissals, with over 75 government employees sacked since 2019 for terror links, including 11 in 2025 alone. The move follows a security review where Sinha vowed to dismantle terror ecosystems, prompting polarized reactions on X, with some praising the action as “essential for security” and others questioning due process.
