In a dramatic incident amidst torrential rains, a bus carrying Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) personnel veered off Kullan bridge and plunged into the Sindh River in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Wednesday morning.
The accident, which occurred in the Kullan area, prompted an immediate response from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) Ganderbal and SDRF Sub Component Gund, who launched a swift search and rescue operation. Miraculously, all personnel on board were rescued, though the exact number of passengers remains unconfirmed. The driver sustained minor injuries and was promptly shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment, with officials reporting his condition as stable.
Authorities noted that the bus skidded off the bridge during heavy rainfall, which likely contributed to the loss of control. The rescue teams recovered three weapons from the site, but some equipment remains missing, prompting ongoing searches in the river.
The incident has raised concerns about road safety in adverse weather conditions in the region. Local administration and ITBP officials are coordinating to investigate the cause of the accident and ensure the safety of all personnel. Residents have been urged to stay cautious amid the ongoing heavy rains affecting the area.
