Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav declared on Friday that industrial development will transform the Chambal region’s identity, shifting its narrative from a historically rugged terrain to a hub of economic progress. Speaking at the ‘bhoomi-poojan’ ceremony for a Rs 1,000 crore mega unit by Elixir Industries Private Limited in Bhind’s Malanpur Industrial Area, Yadav hailed the project as a “historic step” for the state’s industrial landscape.
“The Chambal region will soon be recognized for industrial growth, bringing employment, agro-based industries, and a greener future,” Yadav said. The event also saw the foundation-laying for seven units worth Rs 31.92 crore at Gwalior’s Readymade Garment Park and 11 units worth Rs 58.06 crore in Morena’s Piparseva Industrial Area, signaling a broader push in the Gwalior-Chambal division. Yadav noted that these initiatives would generate thousands of jobs, particularly for the region’s youth, while boosting local income sources.
Highlighting the state’s investor-friendly approach, Yadav credited Regional Industry Conclaves and Investors’ Summits for attracting domestic and international firms. “Chambal’s fertile and resilient land will now host sustainable industries,” he said, also mentioning the Chambal-Kalisindh-Parvati (PKC) Link Project, which promises agricultural prosperity alongside industrial gains. The Rs 1,000 crore unit, focused on eucalyptus and bamboo cultivation, is expected to benefit over 15,000 farmers.
Yadav’s vision aligns with his 2025 “Year of Industry” pledge, aiming to double Madhya Pradesh’s economy within five years. The Chambal region, once synonymous with banditry, is poised for a makeover, with the government balancing industrial growth and farmer welfare to redefine its legacy.
