Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday paid tribute to the Indian Army on the occasion of Army Day, describing its soldiers as a symbol of selfless service and unwavering dedication to the nation. He said the armed forces continue to safeguard the country with steadfast resolve, often while operating under the most challenging and demanding conditions.
In a message shared on social media platform X, the prime minister said the nation salutes the courage and commitment of Indian Army personnel. The day is marked by parades, military displays, and events highlighting the professionalism and operational readiness of the force.

The Indian Army plays a critical role in safeguarding national security, managing border challenges, and responding to internal security situations. Beyond its defense responsibilities, the force is also actively involved in humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operations, often being the first responder during natural calamities such as floods, earthquakes, and landslides.
Over the years, the Army has modernized its capabilities while continuing to uphold its core values of duty, honor, and sacrifice. Soldiers are frequently deployed in difficult terrains, ranging from icy high-altitude regions to dense forests and deserts, requiring immense physical endurance and mental resilience.
The Prime Minister’s message comes as tributes poured in from political leaders, defense officials, and citizens across the country, acknowledging the sacrifices made by Army personnel and their families.
