India Post serves nearly 20 lakh Cheyutha pension beneficiaries every month in Telangana, using its extensive postal network to deliver pension-related services and improve access to financial services. Chief Postmaster General of Telangana Circle D.S.V.R. Murthy highlighted the department’s reach and digital initiatives during a press conference at Dak Sadan in Hyderabad on October 9, marking World Post Day. He said the department was working to strengthen citizen-focused services by combining technological improvements with its established physical infrastructure.
Murthy said India Post was observing National Postal Week from October 9 to 15 under the theme “One Postal Network, Infinite Possibilities”. The campaign reflects the department’s efforts to modernise its operations while continuing to serve communities through its widespread network. The initiative places emphasis on the role of postal services in connecting people, facilitating financial transactions and providing essential services across different regions.
Telangana Circle operates through 36 Head Post Offices, 759 Sub Post Offices and 5,424 Branch Post Offices, according to the figures shared by Murthy. This network provides the department with an extensive presence across the State, including areas where access to conventional banking and other services may be limited. Its branch-level reach also supports the delivery of government-related services to beneficiaries and residents in different parts of Telangana.

National Postal Week will continue until October 15, with the theme highlighting the department’s evolving role in a technology-driven environment. Murthy’s remarks underscored the importance of retaining the reach of traditional postal infrastructure while strengthening digital capabilities.
