The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has extended the deadline for re-registration for the July 2026 academic session until July 15. The extension provides existing students with additional time to complete the mandatory re-registration process and continue their studies in the next semester or academic year. The facility is available for students enrolled in programmes offered through the Open and Distance Learning (ODL) as well as online modes.
According to the university, re-registration is compulsory for all existing students who wish to continue their undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma or certificate programmes. Students who fail to complete the re-registration process within the revised deadline may face delays in continuing their academic programmes. IGNOU has advised all eligible candidates to complete the process well before the last date to avoid technical issues caused by heavy traffic on the portal.
The re-registration process can be completed online through the official IGNOU website. Students are required to log in using their enrolment credentials, select the relevant programme and semester or year, verify their academic details, choose the required courses and complete the prescribed fee payment. Candidates are advised to carefully review all details before submitting the application and retain a copy of the confirmation for future reference.

IGNOU offers a wide range of academic programmes across undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma and certificate levels, making it one of the country's largest distance education institutions. Every academic session, lakhs of students enrol in its programmes due to the flexibility provided through distance and online learning. Timely re-registration is essential to ensure uninterrupted access to study materials, examinations and other academic services.
The university has urged students not to wait until the final day to complete the process, as the website may experience increased traffic closer to the deadline. Those facing technical issues or requiring assistance have been advised to contact the university's regional centres or use the support services available through the official portal.
With the revised deadline now set for July 15, eligible students have another opportunity to complete the mandatory formalities for the new academic session. IGNOU has encouraged all continuing students to finish the re-registration process on time to ensure a smooth transition into the next semester or academic year without any academic interruptions.
