The widely publicized altercation between senior resident doctor Raghav Narula and patient Arjun Panwar at Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) in Shimla has reached an amicable resolution. Both individuals issued mutual apologies, exchanged hugs, and declared all misunderstandings cleared, effectively closing the chapter on the incident that sparked national debate earlier in December 2025.
Speaking to reporters following the settlement, Dr. Narula acknowledged shared responsibility, stating that errors occurred on both sides during the heated exchange. He emphasized the importance of moving forward after the reconciliation, confirming that the matter has been fully resolved through open dialogue and expressions of regret.
Patient Arjun Panwar echoed the sentiment, noting that Dr. Narula recognized his shortcomings and offered a sincere apology, prompting him to withdraw any further pursuit of the issue. Panwar expressed reluctance to revisit details of the original confrontation, adding a light-hearted remark that he might attend the doctor's wedding in the future, signaling complete restoration of cordial relations.

The physical scuffle inside hospital premises gained viral traction on social media, raising concerns over patient-doctor interactions and security protocols at public medical facilities. A government-appointed probe committee determined mutual fault, leading to the Himachal Pradesh administration dismissing Dr. Narula on December 24 for misconduct and behavior unbecoming of a public servant.
With the reconciliation, prevailing tensions between resident doctors and the patient's associates have dissipated, restoring a sense of normalcy to operations at IGMC and highlighting the potential for peaceful resolution in high-profile medical disputes.
