Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday launched the Next Gen CG Dial 112 emergency response service and a fleet of mobile forensic vans in Chhattisgarh, aiming to modernise emergency assistance and strengthen scientific investigation capabilities across the state. The initiative, unveiled in Raipur, is being seen as a major step toward improving public safety infrastructure and enhancing the efficiency of law enforcement agencies.

As part of the launch, Shah flagged off 400 technologically equipped emergency response vehicles and 32 mobile forensic vans that will operate across all districts of the state. Addressing officials and law enforcement personnel, the Union Home Minister said the new system would significantly improve rapid response services while also strengthening the criminal justice framework through evidence-based investigations and better coordination among emergency agencies.

The newly introduced Next Gen CG Dial 112 service integrates police, fire, and medical emergency services into a single round-the-clock platform under the theme “Ekke Number, Sabbo Bar.” Officials said citizens can seek assistance through multiple channels, including voice calls, SMS, WhatsApp, and the SOS 112 India mobile application. The emergency vehicles are fitted with advanced technologies such as GPS tracking systems, wireless communication equipment, PTZ cameras, dash cameras, mobile network video recorders, and solar backup systems to enable real-time monitoring and faster deployment during emergencies.

Simultaneously, the “Science on Wheels” initiative was launched through 32 mobile forensic vans designed to carry out preliminary scientific investigations directly at crime scenes. Each van, estimated to cost around Rs 65 lakh, is equipped with specialised tools for fingerprint detection, ballistic examination, narcotics testing, and digital forensic analysis. Officials said the availability of forensic services at the scene of crime would help reduce delays in evidence collection, minimise contamination risks, and improve the overall quality and transparency of investigations.

The launch assumes significance as Chhattisgarh continues to deal with serious criminal and security-related challenges, particularly in Maoist-affected regions. Authorities believe that integrating emergency response systems with modern forensic capabilities will help accelerate investigations into heinous crimes and improve public confidence in the justice delivery process. The state government has also emphasised the need for technology-driven policing and scientific methods to strengthen law enforcement in remote and sensitive areas.

Amit Shah is currently on a three-day visit to Chhattisgarh, during which he is scheduled to review the security situation in Bastar and assess developmental projects underway in the region. He is also expected to attend a cultural programme in Jagdalpur before chairing the 26th meeting of the Central Zonal Council on May 19. Following the meeting, the Union Home Minister will return to New Delhi via Raipur.
