Uttar Pradesh has emerged as the biggest beneficiary of the Bharatiya Janata Party's organisational reshuffle under party president Nitin Nabin, with eight leaders from the state appointed to key national positions. The revamped team was announced on Monday, months after Nabin took charge as BJP president in December. The concentration of senior leaders from Uttar Pradesh comes ahead of the state's Assembly election scheduled for early next year, making the appointments politically significant for the party's electoral strategy.
Among the 13 national vice presidents announced by the BJP, two are from Uttar Pradesh — Rekha Verma and Professor Tariq Mansoor. The state has also received representation among the party's national general secretaries, with former Union minister Smriti Irani and Harish Dwivedi being appointed to the posts. Irani's return to the BJP's central organisational structure is particularly notable after she remained outside the party's core team following her defeat in the 2024 Lok Sabha election from Amethi.
Uttar Pradesh has also secured two positions among the BJP's 16 national secretaries. Bhola Singh and Sangeeta Yadav have been included in the national team, taking the state's total representation across the three categories to eight leaders. The appointments give the party a sizeable pool of leaders with political and organisational experience in a state that remains crucial to its national electoral calculations because of its large number of Lok Sabha constituencies.

The reshuffle is the first major organisational exercise under Nitin Nabin since he became the BJP's youngest national president. The prominence given to Uttar Pradesh suggests that strengthening the party's organisation and campaign machinery in the state is a major priority. With the Assembly election approaching, the newly appointed leaders could play roles in coordinating with state units, mobilising party workers and shaping the BJP's electoral campaign as it seeks to consolidate its position in the politically crucial Hindi heartland.
