A dramatic snake rescue operation unfolded in a village in Himachal Pradesh’s Paonta Sahib after a King Cobra was found hiding inside a toilet, prompting a local snake catcher to undertake a risky effort to remove the reptile from the residential area. Snake catcher Bhupender Singh approached the washroom and used a stick to carefully drive the King Cobra towards the exit while several people gathered outside to watch the operation. The snake remained highly defensive throughout the rescue, repeatedly raising its hood and appearing to lunge towards Singh as he attempted to move it away from the toilet.
Singh continued his efforts despite the aggressive behaviour of the snake, stepping back whenever it appeared to move towards him before attempting to guide it towards the exit again. Several people could be seen watching the operation from outside the house, while others gathered on the terraces of nearby buildings to observe the rescue. The tense encounter was captured on video and later circulated widely on social media, where viewers reacted to the risky nature of the operation and praised Singh for attempting to safely remove the King Cobra from the residential premises.
As the rescue continued, Singh used the stick to keep the snake moving away from the toilet and towards an open area. The King Cobra repeatedly resisted the attempts to move it, raising its hood and displaying defensive behaviour whenever Singh came closer. The confined space of the washroom made the operation particularly challenging, requiring the snake catcher to maintain his distance while also preventing the reptile from retreating further inside. The people gathered at the location continued to watch as Singh persisted with the rescue attempt.

After a prolonged struggle, Singh eventually managed to get hold of one end of the snake and dragged it out of the toilet and onto the road. Another person then arrived with a bag to assist with containing the reptile. The two men worked together to secure the King Cobra, but the snake continued to resist their efforts to place it inside the bag. The operation remained tense as the men tried to control the reptile without allowing it to escape back towards the residential area.
The men eventually succeeded in placing the King Cobra inside the bag and securing it. Once the snake had been contained, it was moved away from the residential surroundings, bringing the immediate danger to an end. The rescue highlighted the challenges involved in handling a large and highly defensive snake in a confined residential space. The video of the operation continued to attract attention online, with viewers focusing on the close encounter between Singh and the King Cobra during the rescue.
The King Cobra was later rescued and released into the forest, according to the report. The incident in Paonta Sahib serves as another example of snakes entering residential areas and the risks involved in attempting to remove them without proper handling. The viral footage showed the reptile repeatedly raising its hood and resisting the rescue before it was finally secured and taken away from the populated area.
