Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant announced that the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 will be fully implemented in all schools across the state by 2028, as stated in a written reply during the state assembly session on Tuesday. Responding to BJP MLA Nilesh Cabral, Sawant, who oversees the education portfolio, confirmed that NEP is already in place at the undergraduate level in all non-technical colleges in Goa.
The implementation in schools is progressing in phases, guided by directives from the Ministry of Education, UGC, NITI Aayog, and recommendations from the
Chief Secretaries’ Conference in Dharamshala. To support the transition, block-level training programs have been rolled out for teachers, focusing on NEP’s key pillars like holistic education and skill development. Sawant emphasized that these efforts aim to align Goa’s education system with national standards, ensuring quality and inclusivity by the 2028 deadline.
