A massive fire broke out at Capital Power System Limited, an electric meter manufacturing factory in Sector 4, Phase 1 area of Noida, early Thursday morning, injuring 26 workers out of nearly 240 present inside the premises. The blaze trapped employees amid thick smoke and flames, prompting a swift rescue operation by police and fire services who broke windows to evacuate them safely.
Nearly 20 fire tenders rushed to the scene to battle the inferno, which originated from an undetermined cause within the facility. Rescue teams prioritised extracting trapped workers, with reports indicating that the fire's intensity made initial access challenging, forcing authorities to shatter glass panes for entry.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Manisha Singh confirmed that all 26 injured individuals were rushed to the district hospital, where some are receiving intensive care in the ICU while others have sustained fractures. Officials stated that the victims are stable, with no fatalities reported as of midday.

The incident underscores persistent safety concerns in Noida's industrial hubs, where high worker density and flammable materials in manufacturing units heighten risks during fires. Similar blazes in recent years, such as those at garment factories nearby, have prompted calls for stricter fire audits and better evacuation infrastructure.
Local authorities have launched an investigation into the fire's origin, examining electrical short-circuits or equipment failures common in electronics assembly plants. Operations at the factory remain suspended pending safety clearance, with support promised to affected workers.
Noida, part of the National Capital Region, hosts numerous small-to-medium enterprises like Capital Power, employing thousands in sectors vulnerable to such hazards. This event renews focus on compliance with fire safety norms under Uttar Pradesh's industrial regulations.
