Father Thomas Animoottil, 64, the protosyncellus of the Archdiocese of Kottayam, has been appointed Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese by Major Archbishop Raphael Thattil. The appointment marks a significant development in the leadership of the Kottayam Archdiocese and adds a senior member of its clergy to the episcopal leadership. Animoottil has been serving the Archdiocese in an important administrative and pastoral position before his elevation as bishop.
