The FASTag Annual Pass has crossed the one-crore subscriber mark since its launch on August 15, 2025, according to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. The milestone was reached in just over 13 months and reflects the growing adoption of the fixed-cost toll payment option among private vehicle owners who frequently travel on national highways and expressways.
The Annual Pass is available for non-commercial vehicles such as cars, jeeps and vans with a valid FASTag linked to the vehicle's registration. Instead of making separate toll payments through the FASTag wallet for every journey, eligible users can pay a fixed amount upfront and use the pass for one year or 200 toll plaza crossings, whichever comes first.
For the financial year 2026-27, the Annual Pass costs Rs 3,075, up from Rs 3,000 with effect from April 1, 2026. Users can activate the pass through the Rajmargyatra app or the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) website. Once activated, it is linked to the vehicle's existing FASTag and generally becomes operational within two hours. Eligible vehicles can then use designated toll plazas without per-trip toll deductions until the validity period or crossing limit is reached.

The scheme currently covers around 1,150 fee plazas on national highways and national expressways managed by NHAI. However, the Annual Pass is applicable only at specified NHAI-operated toll plazas. At state highway toll points, parking facilities and other locations outside the scheme, the FASTag wallet continues to be charged normally.
The pass automatically reverts to a regular FASTag account once either the one-year validity period or the 200-crossing limit is exhausted. Standard toll deductions then resume from the linked wallet. The structure is aimed particularly at frequent highway users, including commuters, business travellers and families who make regular long-distance journeys.
The government has highlighted the one-crore milestone as evidence of the Annual Pass gaining traction among private vehicle owners. By replacing repeated toll payments with a single upfront fee, the scheme provides a fixed-cost option for eligible journeys and reduces the need for frequent wallet monitoring. The growing subscriber base also marks a significant expansion of the Annual Pass within the wider FASTag toll-payment system.
