In a shocking midnight attack, India launched Operation Sindoor, a meticulously coordinated joint operation by the Indian Army, Air Force, and Navy, targeting terrorist infrastructure deep inside Pakistan, including Punjab, up to 150 km beyond the Line of Control (LoC).
The strikes, executed in retaliation for the April 22, 2025, Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26, obliterated key Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) facilities, eliminating at least three top terrorists, including a major LeT leader at a mosque in Muridke, which was completely destroyed, per posts on X. This is yet to be officially confirmed by either side.
As per experts, India’s arsenal showcased cutting-edge technology, with strikes launched entirely from Indian soil to minimize airspace violations. Rafale jets deployed BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles, boasting a 450–800 km range and Mach 3.5 speed, capable of evading Pakistan’s air defenses like the HQ-9 system.

Su-30 MKI jets, armed with SCALP missiles (over 300 km range), supported the operation, delivering pinpoint strikes. Loitering munitions, including the indigenous Nagastra kamikaze drones with over 75% Indian content, hovered undetected before destroying targets. Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicles (UCAVs), with 100–200 km range, flew low to evade radar, dispersing precision munitions mid-air for surgical strikes.
Intelligence agencies, including the Research and Analysis Wing, pinpointed targets, ensuring no military sites were hit to avoid broader escalation. The operation also employed advanced electronic warfare systems to jam Pakistani communications, compounding the chaos. Pakistan’s attempts to violate Indian airspace were thwarted by India’s S-400 air defense system and Rafale patrols, with no reported losses.
Defense experts hailed the use of tri-service precision strike systems, marking a shift in India’s deterrence doctrine. The strikes, unlike the 2019 Balakot raid, penetrated deeper into Pakistan, targeting not just Pakistan-occupied Kashmir but Punjab’s terrorist hubs, signaling India’s enhanced standoff capabilities. However, Pakistan’s declaration of a nationwide emergency and airport closures, including Lahore for 48 hours, underscores the risk of retaliation.
Operation Sindoor’s success lies in its fusion of BrahMos, UCAVs, and loitering munitions, redefining India’s ability to strike deep, undetected, and with devastating precision, while keeping the operation within its borders to limit escalation.
