Film director Sanoj Mishra, known for offering the viral Mahakumbh girl a role in his movie "Monalisa," was arrested by the Delhi Police on Sunday in connection with a rape case. The arrest followed a complaint filed by a 28-year-old woman who accused Mishra of sexual assault, forced abortions, and making false promises of marriage.
According to the police, the woman registered a First Information Report (FIR) on March 6 at Nabi Karim Police Station in Central Delhi. The complaint was filed under sections of rape, assault, causing miscarriage, and criminal intimidation.
Harsha Vardhan, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central), said, "The accused was in a live-in relationship with the complainant in Mumbai for the past four years. She has alleged that she was forced to undergo abortion thrice." The complainant, who aspired to become a film actress, claimed that Mishra had promised to marry her but later reneged on his commitment.
The woman stated that on February 18, 2025, Mishra took her to Hotel Shiva in Nabi Karim and had physical relations with her. Afterward, he allegedly abandoned her, leading to the filing of the complaint.
During the investigation, the police collected medical records related to the alleged abortions from Muzaffarnagar. The complainant also recorded her statement under Section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), corroborating her allegations.
