Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has announced a massive recruitment drive to appoint 5,346 Trained Graduate Teachers (TGTs) in government and municipal schools, marking one of the largest hiring initiatives in the capital’s education sector in recent years. The new teachers will serve in classes 6 to 10 across all subjects, including Mathematics, Hindi, Natural Science, Sanskrit, Urdu, Punjabi, and Drawing.
Announcing the decision on X, the Chief Minister said the initiative reflects her administration’s goal of building an education system that focuses on quality teaching, individualized guidance, and all-round student development. “This is an initiative towards building an education system where students will receive quality education, personalized guidance, and the opportunity to fully develop their potential,” Gupta said.
The Directorate of Education (DoE) has already opened applications for the posts on the Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board (DSSSB) portal. According to official data, there are 2,070 vacancies for the Unreserved category, 1,601 for OBC, 642 for SC, 214 for ST, and 819 for the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) candidates. The application window will remain open till November 11, 2025, 11:59 PM, with an application fee of Rs 100.

Officials said the recruitment drive aims to tackle the growing teacher shortage in Delhi schools and improve the student-teacher ratio. The government has also planned to introduce technology-enabled classrooms and advanced training modules for newly appointed teachers to enhance learning outcomes.
Education experts have welcomed the move, noting that a fresh wave of qualified educators could revive Delhi’s public school system and raise academic performance across secondary classes. The selected teachers will undergo orientation sessions before the start of the next academic year, ensuring a smooth integration into the capital’s expanding education network.
