In a heartbreaking incident in Najafgarh’s Kharkhari Nahar village, a neem tree, uprooted by gusty winds, crashed onto a tubewell room, killing 26-year-old Jyoti and her three children—Aryan (7), Rishabh (5), and Priyansh (7 months). The family was trapped under the debris of the collapsed structure.
Delhi Police received a PCR call at 5:26 a.m., and with the Delhi Fire Services, launched a swift rescue operation.

Despite efforts, all four were declared dead at Rao Tula Ram Memorial Hospital in Jaffarpur Kalan. Jyoti’s husband, Ajay (30), son of local resident Phool Singh Kushwaha, sustained minor injuries and was discharged after first aid.
The storm, with wind speeds reaching 80 kmph, caused chaos across Delhi, uprooting trees, triggering waterlogging, and disrupting traffic. Over 100 flights were delayed, and three were diverted at Delhi’s airport. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported 77mm of rainfall at Safdarjung and warned of continued severe weather, urging residents to stay indoors.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta called the incident a wake-up call, emphasizing urgent infrastructure improvements to address waterlogging and drainage issues, as emergency teams worked to clear debris and restore normalcy.
