Delhi Police arrested 42-year-old Naushad, a life convict in a 2006 double murder case, from northeast Delhi's Shadatpur Extension on Saturday, ending his six-year evasion after jumping parole. Convicted in 2013, Naushad was released on parole in May 2019 but failed to surrender. He had been living under assumed identities, most recently as a mini-truck driver in Ghaziabad's Loni area, according to police.
The arrest followed a tip-off, leading to a trap that nabbed him without incident. Naushad, a resident of Janta Colony in Welcome, will be produced in court and returned to prison, officials stated.
The case stems from March 27, 2006, when Naushad and accomplices attacked a family in Janta Colony, shooting dead Pappu and his mother, Anisha, and stabbing Pappu's sister, Heena, who survived critically injured. The motive was revenge for a love marriage: complainant Ishrat had wed Shabnam, daughter of one accused, against her family's wishes. In July 2013, Naushad and a co-accused were sentenced to life.
