The Delhi government has approved the Delhi Lakshmi Yojana, a financial assistance scheme under which eligible women in the national capital will receive ₹2,500 per month. The scheme was approved by the Delhi Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, on July 28, with the government allocating ₹5,110 crore for the initiative in the 2026-27 Budget. The scheme aims to provide direct financial support to eligible women across Delhi and is part of the government’s welfare measures focused on improving economic security.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced that the registration portal for the scheme would be launched on August 1, following which eligible beneficiaries can submit their applications online. Gupta said that after receiving applications, the government will conduct a verification process before releasing payments. She expressed hope that the first instalment under the scheme would be transferred to beneficiaries by Raksha Bandhan, subject to the completion of verification procedures and other formal requirements. Under the Delhi Lakshmi Yojana, women who meet the prescribed eligibility criteria will receive a monthly assistance amount directly from the government.

The initiative is expected to benefit a large number of women in Delhi by providing additional financial support for household expenses and personal needs. To register for the scheme, applicants are expected to provide essential documents as part of the verification process. These may include identity proof, address proof, bank account details, and other documents required by the Delhi government to confirm eligibility. The final list of required documents and application guidelines will be available through the official registration portal once the process begins.

The government is expected to verify details submitted by applicants before approving beneficiaries. Women interested in applying for the scheme will need to monitor official announcements regarding eligibility conditions, application procedures, and document requirements. Once the portal becomes operational, applicants will be able to submit their details online and track the status of their applications through the designated platform. The Delhi government has stated that the scheme will be implemented after completing all administrative procedures, including application verification and beneficiary selection. With a dedicated budget allocation of over ₹5,000 crore, the Delhi Lakshmi Yojana is expected to become one of the major women-focused welfare initiatives of the current administration.
