In a coordinated effort, Delhi Police's Special Cell, Jharkhand Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), and Ranchi police have arrested two individuals suspected of links to ISIS, officials confirmed on Wednesday. The prime suspect, Ashar Danish, a resident of Bokaro, was apprehended in Ranchi and was wanted in connection with a case involving an ISIS-linked module registered by the Delhi Police Special Cell.
The second suspect, identified as Aftab, was detained in Delhi as part of the simultaneous operation. Preliminary investigations indicate that both individuals were in communication with members of an ISIS-inspired network and were allegedly involved in activities aimed at promoting the terror group's agenda in India. Sources familiar with the operation noted that Danish had been under surveillance by security agencies for several months prior to his arrest.
This operation underscores ongoing efforts by Indian law enforcement to disrupt potential terror networks, highlighting inter-state collaboration in addressing national security threats.
