Traffic movement across several key roads in the national capital will be regulated on Saturday, September 12, in view of the 18th BRICS Leaders’ Summit, the Delhi Police said in a traffic advisory. Restrictions and diversions will remain in place from 9:30 am to 9:30 pm as authorities make arrangements for the movement of delegates and other vehicles associated with the high-level international gathering. Commuters have been advised to plan their journeys accordingly and follow instructions issued by traffic personnel.

According to the advisory, the traffic measures will cover several important roads across central Delhi and adjoining areas. The restrictions are aimed at managing vehicle movement during the summit and ensuring smooth passage along routes that may be used by participating leaders and official delegations. The advisory includes information on controlled roads, prohibited areas, diversion points and alternative routes that motorists can use while restrictions remain operational.

The Bharat Mandapam and Pragati Maidan area will be among the locations particularly affected by the traffic regulations. The venue is situated in central Delhi and is expected to experience increased security and traffic activity during the summit. Movement on roads surrounding the complex will therefore be regulated, with motorists potentially required to follow diversions or use designated alternative routes depending on the restrictions in force at a particular time.

The impact of the traffic plan will not be limited to the immediate vicinity of Bharat Mandapam. According to the Delhi Police advisory, regulated movement will extend across several major corridors connecting central Delhi with the northern, southern, eastern and western parts of the capital. This means commuters travelling through or toward central Delhi may encounter diversions, controlled movement or restrictions during the designated period. The police have accordingly identified alternative routes and diversion points to help manage traffic flows.

The restrictions are scheduled to remain in effect for 12 hours, from 9:30 am until 9:30 pm on September 12. The Delhi Police has urged commuters to take the advisory into account before setting out, particularly those whose routes pass through central Delhi or near Pragati Maidan. Motorists may need to allow additional travel time and follow directions from traffic personnel at regulated points.
