Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Friday discussed a roadmap to transform the national capital into a world-class tourism hub, engaging with policymakers, industry representatives and experts from the tourism sector. The interaction focused on strengthening Delhi’s tourism ecosystem and promoting its heritage, culture and hospitality on a global platform.
Speaking at the FAITH Tourism Conclave 2026, Gupta highlighted initiatives undertaken by the Delhi government to improve tourism-related services and make event management easier. She said the introduction of a single-window system has simplified procedures by bringing multiple agencies under one platform. She also pointed out that reduced booking rates for stadiums have helped people organise large-scale events more conveniently.
The Chief Minister described Delhi as a “mini-India” where people from different states live and preserve their traditions, cultures and cuisines. She said the city offers a unique combination of historical heritage, diverse communities and a wide range of cultural experiences, making it capable of attracting visitors from across the world.

Gupta said the government is working with the vision of positioning Delhi as a destination city rather than just a stopover location. She emphasised the need to encourage tourists to stay longer, explore the capital’s experiences and return for future visits. She said the tourism strategy would include areas such as heritage tourism, spiritual tourism, digital tourism, medical and wellness tourism, hospitality and night tourism.
In a post on social media platform X, Gupta said meaningful discussions were held with tourism stakeholders during the conclave. She said the government, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, is working towards giving Delhi’s heritage, culture and hospitality a stronger global identity. She also congratulated the organisers and participants involved in developing new tourism initiatives.
Earlier, Gupta had outlined her vision of making Delhi one of the leading global tourism destinations during a tourism stakeholders’ conference. The event saw participation from Delhi’s Minister for Art, Culture and Tourism Kapil Mishra, senior officials from the Delhi Tourism and Transportation Development Corporation (DTTDC), and representatives from various tourism-related sectors. Stakeholders presented suggestions aimed at improving infrastructure, visitor experiences and Delhi’s international tourism appeal.
