The Delhi Assembly’s five-day Budget session commenced on Monday with a symbolic ‘Kheer’ ceremony, signaling a new chapter for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the capital.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, who also oversees the finance portfolio, is set to present the first BJP-led budget in Delhi in over 26 years on Tuesday, a milestone hailed by party leaders as a testament to progress and inclusivity.
The ceremony, attended by a diverse group including businessmen, auto drivers, and Dalit community members, was marked by optimism. Minister Kapil Mishra underscored its historical weight, stating, “Today, people from all walks of life are sharing ‘Kheer’ together, reflecting the unity this budget will embody.”
BJP leader Satish Upadhyay echoed this sentiment, extending his congratulations to CM Gupta and emphasizing the budget’s broad consultative process. “Sweetness symbolises progress. This budget carries the voices of women, youth, businessmen, and colony residents—proof that Delhi’s development is on the right path under PM Narendra Modi’s leadership,” he said.
The BJP’s return to power last month, ending the Aam Aadmi Party’s reign after 26 years, has fueled expectations of transformative governance.
With CM Gupta having gathered input from various sections of society, the budget is poised to reflect a vision of inclusive growth, aligning with the party’s promise to steer Delhi toward a prosperous future.
