The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has announced a proposed protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on October 10 if Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar does not resign. CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke made the announcement on Friday night following a demonstration at Mumbai’s Shivaji Park, where he called for supporters from across the country to join the proposed mobilisation. Dipke said the Delhi protest would be peaceful and described it as a campaign for what the party considers free and fair elections.
The announcement followed a large CJP gathering at Shivaji Park, where protesters demanded Kumar’s resignation amid ongoing political controversy surrounding electoral-roll revisions. Dipke warned of a “Jantar Mantar 2.0” if the CEC remained in office and urged young people to participate in the proposed Delhi demonstration. CJP leader Ajinkya Shinde also demanded Kumar’s resignation and called for criminal proceedings, while seeking the freezing of the 2025 voter lists and changes to the law governing the appointment of Election Commissioners.
During the Mumbai protest, Dipke made several allegations concerning voter-list changes and their alleged impact on recent elections. He claimed that large numbers of voters had been removed from electoral rolls and alleged that the changes had affected election results in Maharashtra, Delhi, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal. These claims were presented by CJP leaders as evidence of irregularities, while the wider controversy has centred on the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls.

The demonstration drew young protesters and activists despite police denying permission for the gathering, according to reports. Several political and civil-society figures were also present, while the Shiv Sena (UBT) extended support to the agitation. Protesters carried placards demanding Kumar’s resignation and raised slogans concerning electoral rights and democracy. Organisers said the proposed October 10 action would follow the principle of peaceful protest and would be taken to Delhi as part of their campaign against the Election Commission’s handling of electoral-roll revisions.
Dipke subsequently reiterated the “Chalo Delhi” call in a post on X, saying supporters would march to Jantar Mantar if Kumar did not step down. He also said that if Delhi Police prevented protesters from reaching Jantar Mantar, the location where they were stopped would become the site of their demonstration. The CJP’s announcement comes amid continuing political disagreement over electoral-roll revisions and demands from opposition groups for greater scrutiny of the Election Commission’s actions.
