Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to unveil a comprehensive vision document on June 26 outlining the government's roadmap to strengthen the fight against drug trafficking and substance abuse over the next three years. The announcement will coincide with the 10th apex-level meeting of the Narco-Coordination Centre (NCORD), which is being organised by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and is expected to bring together key stakeholders involved in narcotics control across the country.
The high-level meeting will be attended by representatives from 44 ministries and departments of the central government, along with 108 officials from state governments and various drug law enforcement agencies. According to an official statement, the deliberations will be conducted in a hybrid format, allowing participation from authorities across different regions. The gathering is expected to serve as a platform for reviewing ongoing efforts and enhancing coordination among agencies tasked with combating the drug menace.
The proposed vision document is expected to establish clear targets and priorities for enforcement, rehabilitation, and public awareness initiatives. It will outline strategies aimed at strengthening institutional mechanisms, improving inter-agency cooperation, and addressing emerging challenges linked to drug trafficking and substance abuse. Officials believe the roadmap will help provide a more structured and coordinated approach to narcotics control while supporting long-term policy objectives.

During the meeting, participants will review the collective actions taken by central and state agencies to curb drug-related crimes and reduce the impact of substance abuse on communities. The government has repeatedly emphasised that tackling narcotics requires a coordinated effort involving law enforcement agencies, policymakers, and social institutions.
According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, the deliberations will reinforce a whole-of-government approach to addressing the drug problem. Stakeholders are expected to examine measures needed to counter evolving trafficking networks, improve enforcement capabilities, and increase public awareness regarding the dangers of drug abuse. The discussions will also seek to align efforts across different levels of government to ensure a more effective response to the challenge.
The NCORD apex meeting comes as the Centre intensifies its anti-narcotics campaign under a policy of zero tolerance towards drug trafficking, a priority consistently highlighted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Officials expect the vision document and the outcomes of the meeting to shape India's anti-drug strategy over the coming years, providing a framework for enforcement agencies and policymakers as they work to reduce the supply and demand of narcotics nationwide.
