A driver deliberately rammed a white sedan into the security gate of the FBI’s Pittsburgh field office at approximately 2:40 a.m. on Wednesday, then threw an American flag over the damaged gate before fleeing, authorities said. The FBI labeled the incident a “targeted attack” on the agency, with no injuries reported among personnel. A bomb squad and federal investigators were deployed to the scene, and a manhunt for the suspect is underway.
The suspect, identified as Donald Henson, a Penn Hills, Pennsylvania resident in his 40s, remains at large. Christopher Giordano, assistant special agent in charge of the Pittsburgh field office, told reporters that Henson visited the office weeks earlier with an incoherent complaint, suggesting a possible motive. The vehicle involved in the crash had a message written on a side window, though its contents have not been disclosed. The FBI is actively investigating the incident to determine the full intent and circumstances.
The Pittsburgh field office, located on the city’s South Side, is a critical hub for federal investigations in western Pennsylvania. This incident follows a series of security concerns at federal facilities nationwide, prompting heightened vigilance. The FBI has urged the public to report any information about Henson’s whereabouts to authorities immediately, emphasizing the need for community cooperation.
