A 34-year-old man was shot dead in the early hours of Monday in Delhi’s Preet Vihar area following a heated dispute over parking, police said. The incident occurred around 2:20 a.m. when Pankaj Nayyar, his brother Paras, and Gaurav Sharma got into an argument over a parking issue. During the altercation, Sharma allegedly pulled out a firearm and shot Nayyar in the chest. Nayyar was immediately rushed to a nearby private hospital but was declared brought dead by doctors upon arrival.
Police have registered an FIR against Gaurav Sharma under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including Section 103(1) for murder, Section 115(2) for voluntarily causing hurt, and Section 3(5) for acts done with common intention. Additional charges under Sections 25 and 27 of the Arms Act have also been invoked. The Preet Vihar Police have taken custody of the body and sent it to Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
Multiple teams have been formed to trace and apprehend the accused at the earliest. Officials stated that the investigation is underway, and further details are expected soon.

This shooting comes just days after another violent incident in the city on April 17, when a father and son were killed in Tara Apartments, Alaknanda, CR Park area. Rakesh Sood (62) and his son Karan Sood (27) were found dead after an alleged attack by their neighbour Asad, linked to long-standing enmity. Another family member was injured in the confrontation. The accused in that case was arrested by the police.
The back-to-back violent episodes in different parts of Delhi have raised concerns over rising instances of petty disputes escalating into fatal confrontations. Authorities continue to investigate both cases to ensure swift justice and prevent further such incidents.
