The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is planning a programme at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi completing 25 years in public life. BJP National President Nitin Nabin will lead the party’s arrangements for the event, according to party sources. Modi is likely to attend the programme and address party leaders, workers and supporters gathered at the venue. The proposed event is part of the BJP’s month-long Seva Sankalp Abhiyan.
October 7 marks 25 years since Modi entered an elected executive office as the Chief Minister of Gujarat in 2001. The BJP launched the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan on September 17, Modi’s birthday, with the campaign scheduled to continue until October 17. The party has planned a range of service, public outreach and welfare-related activities as part of the month-long programme.
Several senior BJP leaders are also scheduled to participate in Seva Jyoti Yatra programmes in Haryana on October 7. Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to take part in the programme in Kurukshetra, while BJP leader Smriti Irani is expected to participate in the yatra in Jind. The Jind programme will also mark Irani’s first visit to Haryana in her capacity as the state in-charge, according to party sources.

The Seva Sankalp Abhiyan includes multiple programmes centred on public participation and service activities. These include blood donation camps, Seva Jyoti Kalash Yatra, Seva Mera Yogdaan, Aangan Milan Sewa, Matru Samvad and musical and theatrical performances in regional languages. The BJP has also planned initiatives intended to document stories of beneficiaries and communicate its account of the government’s welfare and development programmes.
Another major component is the Vadnagar to Varanasi Sewa Yatra, with youth participants travelling from Modi’s birthplace Vadnagar and his Lok Sabha constituency Varanasi. The participants are travelling across multiple states, making halts in villages and taking part in voluntary service and cleanliness activities. The BJP has also planned other nationwide programmes, including youth-focused initiatives and service camps, during the campaign period.
The month-long campaign is scheduled to conclude on October 17. The BJP had earlier outlined a broader set of programmes under the initiative, with activities involving party workers, beneficiaries, students, youth and elected representatives. The Delhi programme, if held as proposed, will form part of the party’s larger schedule marking Modi’s 25 years in public life.
