The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday fiercely rebutted Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s allegations of electoral fraud, branding them a “calculated deceit” and part of a broader Congress conspiracy to undermine India’s democracy and constitutional institutions. Gandhi had accused the Election Commission (EC) of colluding with the BJP to rig the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, citing voter data irregularities in Karnataka’s Bangalore Central constituency.
The BJP accused Gandhi of disrespecting the Indian electorate’s “discerning decision” by labeling the party’s victory as fraudulent. Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, in a scathing post on X, claimed Gandhi’s accusations stem from “frustration and anger” over Congress’s repeated electoral defeats. “The ideologically hollow Congress is systematically attacking constitutional institutions,” Pradhan said, hinting at a “larger conspiracy” and referencing the Congress’s historical role in imposing the Emergency.
Pradhan criticized Gandhi’s “double standards,” noting that Congress praises the EC when victorious but brands it biased in defeat. He questioned Gandhi’s silence when the EC invited complaints about voter irregularities in Bihar, suggesting Congress’s inaction exposes its hypocrisy. “Rahul Gandhi needs to understand that his family’s victory is not the definition of democracy,” Pradhan added.

The BJP asserted that voters would reject Congress for its “irresponsible and shameless” conduct, predicting a strong public backlash, particularly in Bihar, against such attacks on democratic institutions.
