Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Monday laid the foundation stone for a Rs 170-crore MSME Technology Centre in Khizersarai block of Gaya district, marking a major push towards industrial development, skill training, and employment generation in the state. The project is being developed on 20 acres of land provided by the state government.
The foundation-laying ceremony was attended by Union MSME Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi, Bihar Assembly Speaker Prem Kumar, and several state ministers, along with public representatives, entrepreneurs, officials, and local residents. Alongside the main event, the widening and strengthening of the Gaya–Islamabad–Khizersarai road, which will connect to the upcoming centre, was also inaugurated.
Officials said the MSME Technology Centre is designed to become a major hub for innovation, technical training, and industrial support across the Magadh region. The facility is expected to provide advanced skill training to more than 7,000 youth annually and extend technical assistance to over 1,000 MSME units across Bihar.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary said the project would serve as a milestone in expanding employment opportunities and strengthening technical education in the region. He added that the centre would cater to students ranging from Class 8 pass candidates to postgraduate-level learners, offering a wide spectrum of industry-oriented courses.
The training programmes planned at the centre include disciplines such as tool and die making, mechatronics, automation technology, electrical systems, and electronics. Courses will range in duration from six months to one year, with a focus on hands-on industrial training aligned with market requirements.
Special emphasis will also be placed on women’s vocational training programmes aimed at promoting self-employment and financial independence. These will include courses in tailoring and embroidery, computer skills, textile-related training, engineering-based vocational modules, and wellness programmes to enhance livelihood opportunities for women in the region.
Government officials highlighted the rapid expansion of the MSME sector in Bihar, noting that the number of MSME units has increased significantly in recent years, rising from nearly 6 lakh to over 46 lakh. The state government said this growth has played a key role in generating large-scale employment and strengthening the rural and semi-urban economy.
