The Bihar cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, approved several proposals on September 9, 2025, including a hike in anganwadi workers' honorariums, the creation of 3,303 revenue posts, and funding for infrastructure, amid upcoming assembly polls.
The Bihar cabinet meeting on Tuesday greenlit a significant increase in honorariums for over 1.20 lakh anganwadi workers and helpers, raising payments to Rs 9,000 and Rs 4,000 per month, respectively, effective from September 1, at an additional cost of Rs 345.19 crore. It also approved the creation of 3,303 revenue staff positions to handle the growing volume of land-related cases, addressing administrative needs in the state.
Further decisions included allocating Rs 280.60 crore for installing CCTV cameras in 176 new police stations and Rs 50 crore for constructing marriage halls across all 8,053 panchayats. The cabinet also endorsed the 'Mukhya Mantri Fellowship Yojana', appointing 121 fellows with stipends up to Rs 1.5 lakh to accelerate public policy implementation, in collaboration with IIM-Bodh Gaya.

Other approvals encompassed setting up LPG-based crematoriums in six cities, launching the 'Jeevika Godhan Conservation and Management Scheme' for stray cows, and sanctioning Rs 400 crore for outstanding electricity bills of urban bodies. Additionally, the cabinet increased the contingency fund corpus to Rs 31,689.50 crore to ensure timely execution of schemes, highlighting efforts to bolster governance ahead of elections.
