Popular Bengali actress Subhashree Ganguly and her five-year-old son are among several Indians stranded in Dubai after flight services were suspended amid escalating tensions linked to the ongoing US-Iran conflict. The actress had travelled to the emirate for a holiday when hostilities intensified, leading to disruptions in regional air traffic. Authorities halted or rescheduled multiple flights as a precautionary measure following military developments across parts of the Middle East, leaving passengers awaiting further updates on travel resumption.
Subhashree’s husband, Raj Chakraborty, confirmed that both mother and son are safe and staying inside a hotel in Dubai. Speaking to Kolkata-based media, Raj said the family remains concerned but reassured that civilians in Dubai are considered safe at present. He added that they are closely monitoring the situation and waiting for clarity on when normal flight operations will resume so that they can return to India.
The disruption has also affected other Indian celebrities in the region. Actor Sonal Chauhan shared on social media that she is stranded in Dubai and sought assistance from the Indian government for a safe return. In a message addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, she requested guidance and support amid cancelled flights and uncertainty over evacuation arrangements, tagging relevant authorities in her appeal.

Actor Esha Gupta also confirmed that she is safe despite the tense atmosphere. Describing the situation as “scary” and "tough", she said she and others are relying on official channels and expressed confidence that the Indian authorities in the United Arab Emirates are working to ensure the safety and possible evacuation of stranded citizens. She also offered prayers for those affected by the crisis across the region.
The broader conflict began on February 28, when the United States and Israel reportedly launched coordinated military strikes against Iran, sharply escalating regional tensions. In response, Iran is said to have targeted US and Israeli-linked positions in parts of West Asia, including areas in Bahrain, the UAE and Jordan, prompting heightened security measures and airspace restrictions across several countries.
The situation has further intensified following reports of rocket fire and retaliatory strikes involving Israel and Lebanon, amid claims related to the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. With airspace volatility continuing, stranded travellers, including Indian nationals, are awaiting official announcements on the restoration of commercial flight services as governments assess security conditions in the region.
