Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma met Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan at the Vice-President’s Enclave in New Delhi on Sunday, extending a formal invitation for him to visit the state. The meeting lasted approximately 30 minutes and was marked by cordial exchanges between the two leaders.
During the courtesy call, Sarma congratulated Radhakrishnan on assuming office as Vice President and emphasized Assam’s rapid developmental progress over the past few years. He invited the Vice President to personally witness the transformation of the northeastern state.
Radhakrishnan appreciated the invitation and engaged in a warm discussion with Sarma, acknowledging Assam’s initiatives in infrastructure, education, and social welfare that have contributed to the state’s growth and modernization.

Following the meeting, Sarma took to X to share that he had congratulated the Vice President and reiterated the invitation, highlighting Assam’s efforts to foster economic development, tourism, and cultural heritage.
Earlier in the day, Vice President Radhakrishnan released a commemorative postage stamp honoring Emperor Perumbidugu Mutharaiyar II, also known as Suvaran Maran. He used the occasion to recognize initiatives supporting Tamil culture, including the Kashi Tamil Sangamam, and to highlight contributions of lesser-known Tamil rulers and freedom fighters.
The meeting reflects ongoing efforts by Assam’s leadership to strengthen ties with the central government and attract attention to the state’s development initiatives, positioning Assam as a hub of progress and cultural richness in India’s northeast.
