In yet another shocking incident, Shakur Khan, a Rajasthan state government employee, was detained in Jaisalmer on Wednesday night, suspected of spying for Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).
The arrest, part of a nationwide crackdown following India’s Operation Sindoor, was carried out by a joint team of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and intelligence agencies. Khan, a clerk at the Jaisalmer district employment office, was found with multiple Pakistani phone numbers on his device, which he could not explain, raising suspicions of espionage.
Authorities revealed that Khan, a resident of Jaisalmer, had traveled to Pakistan six to seven times without departmental approval, a serious breach of protocol for a government employee.

Intelligence inputs suggest possible connections with a Pakistani embassy official and a senior Congress leader, Saleh Mohammad, for whom Khan previously served as a personal assistant. During Operation Sindoor, Khan was on duty in the district administration control room and was seen discussing remnants of Pakistani aerial weapons with the media, further fueling suspicions.
The detention follows heightened anti-espionage operations post the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, which killed 26 people. Khan has been taken to Jaipur for interrogation by central agencies, with his financial records and deleted phone data under scrutiny. This latest arrest underscores India’s intensified efforts to dismantle Pakistan-linked spy networks.
