Defence Minister Rajnath Singh expressed unwavering confidence that the people of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) will soon choose to reunite with India voluntarily, emphasizing their deep-rooted connection to the nation.
Speaking at the CII Business Summit a short while ago, Singh described PoK residents as part of India’s extended family, separated only by geography and politics.
“They are our own, part of our family,” Singh said, addressing the people of PoK directly. “I firmly believe that, listening to their inner voice, they will return to India’s mainstream one day.”

Singh highlighted that most PoK residents share a profound bond with India, with only a small minority swayed by misinformation. “India is about uniting hearts,” he said. “Through love, unity, and truth, PoK will soon declare, ‘I am India, I have returned.’”
On India’s stance toward Pakistan, Singh was unequivocal: any dialogue with Islamabad will focus solely on terrorism and PoK. He stressed that India has revamped its anti-terrorism strategy, delivering a stern warning to Pakistan that terrorism comes at a steep cost—a lesson, he said, Islamabad is beginning to learn.
Singh also showcased India’s strides in defense self-reliance. From a modest Rs 1,000 crore a decade ago, India’s defense exports have soared to Rs 23,500 crore. He credited the success of home-grown systems, demonstrated during Operation Sindoor, for bolstering India’s global standing. “We’re not just building fighter jets and missile systems,” Singh said. “We’re gearing up for cutting-edge warfare technologies.”
The minister underscored the importance of the Make-in-India initiative, calling it vital for both national security and economic prosperity. With a clear vision for PoK’s reintegration and a robust defense ecosystem, Singh’s remarks signal India’s resolute path forward.
