Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched a scathing attack on opposition parties in Bihar during a public rally at Punauradham in Sitamarhi district, accusing them of obstructing the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls to protect "infiltrators" who, he claimed, have "no right to vote." Targeting the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Congress, Shah alleged they are opposing the voter list cleanup because it removes illegal voters, a move he deemed critical to safeguarding India’s democratic process.
Shah singled out Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of "playing politics" with the SIR exercise. Gandhi, in a recent New Delhi press conference, claimed over one lakh votes in Karnataka’s Mahadevapura constituency were fraudulent, citing fake, duplicate, or bulk voters with invalid addresses. He alleged a nationwide "vote chori model" and called for judicial intervention, stating, "The democracy we love so much does not exist anymore." Shah dismissed these claims as opposition tactics to shield infiltrators and undermine electoral integrity.
The Home Minister also took aim at the opposition’s stance on Operation Sindoor, a counter-terrorism initiative. He contrasted the frequent terrorist attacks during the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) era with the current government’s proactive approach under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “Our soldiers now eliminate terrorists in their hideouts,” Shah declared, accusing RJD and Congress of opposing the operation for political gain.

Shah expressed confidence in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) securing a landslide victory in the upcoming Bihar assembly elections. He criticized the RJD’s track record, alleging it fostered "hooliganism" during its tenure and neglected Bihar’s development. Highlighting infrastructure investments, Shah noted that while RJD supremo Lalu Prasad, as a former central minister, allocated only Rs 1,132 crore for Bihar’s railway infrastructure, the current government has committed Rs 10,066 crore in FY 2025-26.
The rally underscored Shah’s push to strengthen the NDA’s campaign in Bihar, framing the opposition as defenders of illegal voting and terrorism. As the state gears up for polls, the debate over electoral rolls and security policies is set to intensify.
